Everyone loves plants!

SPRING PLANT SALE EXTENDED: MARCH 23 AND 24

Dear Faculty, Staff, Parents and Community,

Thank you for your supporting the Green Academy Spring Plant the past couple of days! Even with the rain being heavier than predicted, we still have had a decent showing of customers!

It seems that the rain has kept some people at bay, so we will be extending the plant sale two more days! The coming week, March 14-18, is our district Spring Break. The sale will continue Wednesday and Thursday March 23-24 from 9-5. March 25 is Good Friday. Plants make a great addition to any Spring Celebration! We will still be selling native and adapted plants, as well as Green Academy shirts at a steeply discounted rate!

Please come out and continue to show your support for our grassroots programs. The plant sale proceeds make up the vast majority of the Green Academy budget each year. Your support is needed and is always greatly appreciated.

Spring and Plant Sale

Spring definitely feels like it is coming much sooner than expected. Low winter temperatures and ample rain seems to have signaled an early bloom! Everything seems to be budding! Check out the slide show below of what is in bloom already.

This is also the time of year that the Purple Martins (Progne subis) begin their migration back from South America.
While investigating some issues with invasive birds (European Starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) and English House Sparrows(Passer domesticus)) in our habitat, Mr. Rosenberg was able to spot some scout Martins.

Boy are they quick! He couldn't get any on perch but he did get some on the hunt for breakfast.

Here is a stock photo of a pair. Can't wait!

Finally, our biannual plant sale will kick of this Thursday, 3/10/16. We will be testing on campus so the sale will be delayed until 1pm. It will run until 5pm. We will continue on Friday, 3/11/16, and go from 9am until 4:30. Please come out and support the Green Academy and our students!

Green Growing Seed Disection

Mrs. Allie Anderson's Green Growing class performed a seed dissection on Tuesday. They learned about the parts of seeds and identified them in lima beans, corn, peas, sunflower seeds, and peanuts. Enjoy the slide show!
