Birds of Prey Flight Demonstration
Yesterday, all of our Green Academy 6th graders attended a birds of prey flight demonstration performed by the falconers of Last Chance Forever. Last Chance Forever rescues, rehabilitates, and releases abandoned and injured birds of prey back into the wild. The presentation was amazing including owls, hawks, eagles, and vultures. If you would like to learn more about this fantastic San Antonio based organization click HERE to view Last Chance Forever's website. Check out the slide show of the presentation below!
Thank you again to this wonderful organization for giving our students such a transformative experience.

Small Middle School Green Tech Academy "Backyard"
Shirt
Support the School, Get an Awesome Shirt!
This shirt will be comfortable and affordable. It doesn't
just represent our school, it should represent our comfort with nature. If we
are lucky we can all end up with a shirt we are proud to wear around town and
help our program make some extra funds.
Each year Small Middle School
and the various programs on campus design and create great apparel for their
programs. For years the Green Tech Academy shirts have been for an event or
program. This year I wanted our shirt to represent the feeling that our gardens
give to the faculty and staff and that we hope our community will start to
feel. The term "the backyard" was used recently to
describe the space our students have worked so hard to cultivate. Our gardens
should be a retreat for the mind, body, and soul. It should feel comfortable
and be treated just like it is your own backyard. On the back of the shirt is
the phrase "think outside". It is a term used by permaculturalists.
We want the term to make people think of gardens and of nature. We also want
people to understand this is the philosophy all of our programs embody, to
think outside of the norm.
